Import your contacts from a spreadsheet or your phone

Bring people in from Excel, a CSV or your phone's contacts, check what Deed read before anything is added, and undo it if you need to.

Updated 8 October 2026, about 3 minutes

Before you start

  • Your contacts in a spreadsheet (Excel or CSV), or your phone's contacts saved as a contacts file (.vcf)
  • On an Android phone in Chrome, nothing more: Deed can open the phone's own contact list
  1. On Contacts, press New contact and choose Import people. If Import is already open, choose People.

  2. Press Choose a file: Excel, CSV or contacts (.vcf). On an Android phone, Choose from this phone's contacts opens the phone's own list, and only the people you tick come in.

On an iPhone, open Contacts, tap Lists, hold All Contacts, tap Export and save the file. Then choose it here. How to get your phone's contacts says the same for Android, Google and Outlook. A Numbers file goes through Excel first: in Numbers, choose File, Export To, Excel.

  3. Deed says how many people it found and what it read each column as. Change any it read wrongly. Columns it doesn't know, like a company or a birthday from a phone, go on each person's notes, or choose Don't bring in. Then press Continue.

  4. Deed lists who comes in, with their numbers, before anything is added. Anyone already in your book, by number or email, is skipped and listed apart, so nobody is doubled. Give the list a name if you like (a caller can also put it in one of their folders), then press Import.

  5. Your contacts join your book as Dormant: people you already know, not new enquiries, so nobody is mistaken for a lead waiting on you. A person's stage changes on their page. If you're a caller, your list comes in as leads to call, on Calls. Undo import takes the whole import back out.

Your listings come in from your portal profile: see Import your listings from Property24 or RE/MAX.
